چکیده

24-Epibrassinolide belongs to the brassinosteroid family of plant hormones, and carbenoxolone is a synthetic analogue of glycyrrhizic acid that inhibits enzymes important in steroid and prostaglandin action in animals. The e€ect of these compounds on root nodulation, root growth and shoot growth of Glycine max (L.) Merr. cv. Tracy M was examined. Epibrassinolide reduced total nodulation, plant wet weight, root length, shoot length, ®rst internode length and number of lateral roots. E€ects were observed at concentrations as low as 0.1 lM. Carbenoxolone reduced lateral root formation, but did not reduce nodule numbers, root length or weight, nor stem length or weight.

Impact of sea salt stress on growth and some physiological attributes of some soybean (Glycine Max L.) varieties.

The impact of three levels of sea salt (0.0, 8.0, and 16.0 mS/cm2) on six varieties of soybean (Crawford, G21, G22, G35, G82, and G83) was studied. Growth criteria, photosynthetic pigments, soluble sugars, soluble protein, free amino acids, free proline, and protein profile of soybean varieties were investigated under sea salt stress. Results of this study showed a considerable decrease in grow...

Native strains of Bradyrhizobium japonicum were tested for their effectiveness on nodulation, crop yield and nitrogen fixation in soybean (Glycine max). B. japonicum strains were isolated from soybean root nodules collected from different agro-climatic regions of Far Western Nepal, viz. Dipayal (607 m asl), Dadeldhura (1097 m asl), Silgadhi (1209 m asl) and Bajura (1524 m asl). The strains were...

Effects of Phenolic Extracts of Canola (Brassica napuse L.) on Germination and Physiological Responses of Soybean (Glycin max L.) Seedlings

Phenolic extracts of canola (Brassica napuse L.) contains substances that inhibited the germination and seedling growth of soybean (Glycin max L.). These compounds also affect activity of some enzymes. Hear, we investigated the allelopathic effects of various canola plant parts on soybean germination, seedling growth, and biochemical aspects. Phenolic extract of canola shoot (including leaf,...

Nodulation, nutrient accumulation and yield of rainfed soybean in response to indigenous soybean-nodulating Bradyrhizobia in the Himalayan region of Kashmir-Pakistan

The use of efficient and effective nodulating Bradyrhizobia strains considered as anecologically and environmentally sound management strategy for soybean production. A 2-yr(2009 and 2010) field experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of seven indigenousBradyrhizobium strains, one exotic TAL-102 and three N fertilizer rates, i.e., 25, 50 and 100kg N ha-1 on the productivity and N2 fixa...

Comparison of static and electromagnetic field effects on redox system of soybean seedlings

The effects of magnetic fields (MF) on germination and early growth parameters, redox state and the activity of antioxidant system were investigated in soybean (Glycine max L. Merrill) seedlings. The seeds were imbibed in water and then were exposed to a 30 mT static magnetic field (SMF) and a 10 kHz electromagnetic field (EMF) for 4 days, each 5 h. Water uptake of seeds increased after 40 and ...
